If you are dealing with social anxiety disorder and attempts to interact in small groups fail, you must change your approach.
When that one person inevitably talks to a second person, try to talk to that person just a little bit too, or at least stay tuned into the discussion, and listen to them talk. You will find that you will be able to contribute to that discussion in time.
